This course is planned to give the student a knowledge, understanding,
and appreciation of art. It will cover basic knowledge of the art elements and
principles. A wide variety of techniques will result in an adequate background
for advanced courses. Also, it will give non-art majors a general background in
a variety of medias. It is especially recommended for college bound students since
either music or basic art is required in most colleges. Content and scope of the
course will include: drawing, design, abstraction, mixed media, study in value
and tones, color theory, movements in Art History, ceramics, watercolor, and sculpture.
