In this area students have the opportunity to explore two and three dimensional
aspects of drawing and to develop a personal power of expression. Different approaches
to drawing such as contour drawing, sketching, and brush drawing will be experienced.
A variety of media and their combinations will be tried to stimulate thinking,
and to develop sensitivity in the use of art elements, to sharpen sensory impressions,
and to train visual memory. A knowledge of perspective drawing will be developed
and all aspects of drawing medias will be put to use in this unit, such as pen
and ink, pencil, colored pencils, felt markers, pastels, scratch board, charcoal,
contecrayon, brush watercolor. The students will be also concerned with
the understanding and appreciation of drawings of artists, present and past. A
sketch book will be required for this class. This course is based upon advanced
techniques and skills and students wishing to take the course should consider
this.
