TEXTBOOK:
Alegebra 1: Integration, Application, Connections
Glencoe/McGraw Hill 1998.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: spiral notebook, pocket folder, pen/pencil

GRADING POLICY: Each student's grade is based on an average of percentages acquired from homework, quizzes, and tests. Each student is expected to do his own work. Cheating will result in a zero on that particular quiz or test. Parents and the office will be notified.

Gretna's grading scale
:
A=94-100
B=86-93
C=78-85
D=70-77
F=below 70

HOMEWORK: Assignments will be given almost daily. These assignments play a key role in the learning of the material covered in this course. Students are expected to have their assignments completed by the beginning of class the following day to earn full credit. If an assignment is not completed on time, the student is expected to complete the assignment by the following day for half credit. Failure to do so will result in the student staying after school that day to complete this particular assignment for NO CREDIT.

TESTS & QUIZZES: Either a quiz or test will be given almost weekly. If a student fails a quiz or test, a retake may be given or other work may be substituted to help master the material. The highest grade a student can receive on a retake is a 70%.

ATTENDANCE: Attendance is an important factor for success in this course. Any student missing class is responsible for the material covered. Students with excused absences will receive one day for every day missed to turn in make-up assignments. Unexcused absences will receive a zero for each assignment. Extended absences will be handled on an individual basis.

PROMPTNESS: Students are required to be in their assigned seats when the bell rings. A tardy slip will be required either from the teacher who detained the student, or from the office if the student is late. Students are expected to bring all necessary materials to class each day. Students will not be permitted to go back to their lockers, use the restroom, or the water fountain once the bess has rung. All students are expected to remain in their seats until the bell rings to dismiss class.

No food, drink, or gum will be allowed in class.

This class period is for Algebra I work only.

RESPECT & CONSIDERATION IS EXPECTED OF EACH PERSON.
