MATH ---- RHODES
I. TESTING
(A) Pre Calculus --- There will be 1 to 3 chapter tests per quarter, plus a semester final which will count as 10% of your final grade for that semester.
(B) Algebra II --- There will be 2 to 4 chapter tests ( or in some instances 1/2 chapter tests) per quarter, plus a semester final which will count as 10 % of your final grade for that semester.
(C) 94 - 100 1
86 - 93 2
78 - 85 3
70 - 77 4
0 - 69 5
(D) If you should happen to fail a test, then we will need to set up a time when we can get together so as to clear up any misunderstandings that you may have had. You will then have a chance to rework the test to receive a passing grade.
II. DAILY WORK, MAKEUP WORK, ETC.
(A) PreCalculus --- There will be 2 quizzes per chapter (on which you will be allowed to use your homework and notes). These will be averaged together at the end of each quarter, and will count the same as a chapter test.
B) Algebra II --- Daily work will be handed in at the end of each chapter and each assignment is recorded in the gradebook as an A, B, C, D, or F. This is a grade based upon my interpretation of how fully each assignment has been completed and the work being shown in the proper manner. At the end of each quarter, these are converted into a number grade which counts as an extra test score. Should you make incompleteness a habit, arrangements will be made for before or after school time for you to do your work.
If this homework is handed in after the due date, deductions will be made from the score you should have received as in the following example: (If you should have received an A, handing the material in 1 day late will turn the A into a B, two days late will turn the A into a C, three or more days late will turn the A into a D.)
(C) Example of how homework grades are calculated
M T W T F M T W T F
A B B A D B F C A A
4 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 3 + 0 + 2 + 4 + 4 = 28
28/10 = 2.80 = 84 for extra test score
3.75 - 4.00 98 A
3.50 - 3.74 92 B+
3.00 - 3.49 88 B
2.50 - 2.99 84 C+
2.00 - 2.49 80 C
1.50 - 1.99 76 D+
1.00 - 1.49 72 D
0.00 - 0.99 50 F
(D) If you are absent due to illness or some other unforeseen circumstance, then you will have 1 day for each day absent to make up the work. If you know ahead of time that you will be gone (family trips, field trips, athletics, etc.), then you will need to make arrangements to get the necessary notes and/or assignments before you leave.
(E) If you are caught cheating on a test or assignment, then you may receive a grade of 0 on that work.
(F) We will all treat each other in a fair and respectful manner.
(G) There are no cirumstances that would ever justify your laying your head down on your desk.
(H) At the end of the class period, after you have returned your calculator to the cabinet, please return to you desk. We will not gather as a group by the door at the end of the period.
(I) No pop, candy, or food.
(J) Gum chewing is allowed unless it becomes obnoxious.
(K) When I am talking, I expect students to listen. Ample time will be provided for student questioning.
(L) Tardiness --- You will need to have a pass from another teacher or from the office.
(M) Students are allowed to use the restroom --- 1 boy and 1 girl at a time. The same is true for the drinking fountain, but not during class discussion except in emergencies.
