Biology: An Everday Experience, Glencoe

Description:
In this course we will be investigating the physical and living world around us, and how it impacts our lives. We will cover various topics in the areas of biology and chemistry, trying to get a handle on how these sciences affect us every day. While we often think science is only practiced by professional scientists, all of us use science and scientific thinking everyday! In sports, the priciples of Physics andBiology are incredibly applicable. Athletes who understand and use what they know about Anatomy and Physiology (parts of Biology), become better athletes. We can enjoy and preserve the outdoors (golfing, hiking, fishing) when we know how to protect the environment. Technology makes it possible for us to look inside the body without having surgery. Chemistry is a part of every science fiction movie you have seen, as well as any make-up, shampoo, perfume or cologne you use. Believe it or not, science is everywhere. So come prepared to learn how to use science as a tool to understand the world around you! The following is a list of the topics we will cover in class this year.
