American Government Power Point Project
Purpose:
To use Power Point Software to create a multimedia presentation.
Topic:
Federal and State Political Offices
Where to Start:
Choose your political office. Research various topics dealing with the political
office you chose. You will need text and graphics to use on your stack. Graphics
taken from magazines or books can be scanned in the high school lab. Use Internet,
history books, library resources.
Sketch sample cards on flow sheet. (attached) Transfer to computer.
Creating the Stack:
Title card that contains title and name of political office chosen.
The 2nd card should be text information describing the stack or an outline of
the stack. You need to have between 10 and 15 cards of information.
Final card should list all references used in creating the stack
Each card should contain a graphic item or picture.
Graphic items can be taken from any of the following:
Internet, CD Rom, Scanned pictures from any books, Clip Art
- Text - not more than 30 words to a card (negotiable)
Date Due:
Save it on the Student Server in the Jepsen folder. Research should be
completed by Friday, January 10. The presentations will be due the week of January
13-17.
REQUIREMENTS FOR RESEARCH:
A. Students must pick a Federal or State political office?
Examples At Federal Level: Congressmen (House/Senate), judges, cabinet members,
advisors, diplomats, president, sec. of state, sec. of treasury, sec. of defense,
etc.
Examples At State Level: legislatures, governors, attorney general, members
of the various departments (education, labor, agriculture, banking, motor vehicle,
revenue, etc), any of the state boards or commissions, etc.
B. Include any or all of the following criteria.
1. Requirements for the political office chosen.
2. Profile of typical characteristics of members of your office.
3. Describe a typical day or duties of a member of your office.
4. How important is this political office? (May include opinions and reasoning).
5. What types of things should be changed about this political office? (such as
requirements, duties, benefits, etc.-include opinions and reasoning).
6. What is the most/least important or interesting aspects of your political office.
7. May include someone who holds/has held that office. May include specific details
about that person.
C. Other areas of interest?
1. You may include other information of interest that you find while researching
your office.
